3/31/2022

HPE Aruba’s NaaS Announcements Change the Consumption Model Dialogue with Customers

Incline Village, Nevada – March 31, 2022 – An upcoming report by 650 Group, a leading Market Intelligence Research firm for communications, campus, data center, and cloud markets, provides unique insight into the NaaS market for enterprise WLAN.  The latest report reflects the idea that the needs of the enterprises are different now and will continue to evolve away from pure CAPEX consumption models.

“WLAN was one of the first campus networking markets to move towards Subscription and Cloud Managed over a decade ago with most vendors aggressively ramping their Cloud Managed offerings in 2021,” said Chris DePuy, Founder and Technology Analyst at 650 Group.  “NaaS is a natural progression in how vendors will change their product offerings to address the change in consumption models and make up an increasing percentage of WLAN during the next five years.”

The Quarterly Enterprise WLAN –  NaaS report looks at the adoption rate of NaaS compared to Cloud Managed Solutions and provides additional segments by business size and other adoption metrics.  The reports will also look at the vendor’s current revenue splits between traditional CAPEX and subscription-related revenue.  Future reports will include additional segmentation and vendors.

650 Group Report Highlights the Return to Growth for the Enhanced Network Access Control (ENAC) Market

9/9/2021

New SaaS-based Entrant, WiteSand, Joined Existing Vendors That Experienced Growth Including Cisco and HPE Aruba

Incline Village, Nevada – Sept. 9, 2021 – In a recently published report by 650 Group, a leading Market Intelligence Research firm for communications, data center, and cloud markets, it was revealed that the Enhanced Network Access Control (ENAC) market has experienced 17% Y/Y revenue growth during 2Q21.  The most recent quarter’s result, 2Q21, is the second quarter in a row that had double-digit annual growth and was preceded by modest declines coincident with the initial period of lockdowns.  Additionally, a new vendor, WiteSand, entered the market, and an existing vendor, Cisco Systems, updated its technology.

In June 2021, a new entrant, WiteSand, entered the ENAC market with a Cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) ENAC offering.  Also, in June, Cisco began offering its Identity Service Engine (ISE) 3.1 software that can operate on AWS and Azure, making it a cloud-delivered, customer-operated solution.

“Despite the volatile revenue growth results we observed during the pandemic, there has been a surprising amount of innovation in the ENAC market.  ENAC’s move to the cloud is exciting and presents an opportunity for customers to manage their device control systems in multiple modes,” said Chris DePuy, Founder and Technology Analyst at 650 Group.  “Furthermore, vendors are responding to changes in the marketplace by leveraging cloud-services, colocation, and other delivery mechanisms to address changes to the workforce since the emergence of the pandemic as well as the prevalence of IoT devices.  Additionally, we expect that new Cloud-hosted SaaS ENAC may increase the appeal of ENAC to a broader set of customers.”

The ENAC market is considered part of 650 Group’s security-focused research practice, which includes Cloud Firewall, SASE, SD-WAN, Security Appliances, and more.  Additionally, 650 Group has research reports that show market share and forecasts for Cloud-Managed Services for both Wireless LAN (WLAN) and Campus Ethernet Switches.

About the ENAC (Enhanced Network Access Control) Market and Long-Term Forecast Report The ENAC (Enhanced Network Access Control) Market and Long-Term Forecast Report includes segmentation on a regional and worldwide basis and provides delineation between physical, virtual, subscription, services revenue streams, as well as a breakout of Cloud-based SaaS market participation.  Vendors covered in the report include Cisco Systems, Commscope Ruckus, Forescout, Fortinet, HPE Aruba, Portnox, Ruijie, WiteSand, and others.  For more information about the report, contact the sales department at 650 Group at +1 650 600 7104, email val@650group.com or visit www.650group.com.

Ethernet Switch Market Grew Nearly 10% in 1Q’21, According to 650 Group

6/2/2021

Data Center Switching Records Strongest Growth; Campus Switching Records Third Straight Quarter of Y/Y Growth

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – June 2, 2021 – A newly released report by 650 Group, a leading Market Intelligence Research firm for communications, data center, and cloud markets, indicates that the Ethernet Switch Market grew nearly 10% for 1Q’21 to approximately $7.5 B.  The report also revealed significant regional differences, with China showing robust growth in 2020 and with Europe, Japan, and the United States all contracting.

"The Ethernet Switch market continued to perform robustly, despite supply constraints and an uneven recovery from COVID-19," said Alan Weckel, Founder and Technology Analyst at 650 Group. "400 Gbps set another record as T2 Cloud performance was inconsistent, but hyperscaler and telco cloud growth remained robust.   In Campus switching, mid-market began to grow again, and verticals hit by COVID-19 such as retail began their recovery.  2021 will see significant market share shifts as vendors have different exposure to verticals and regional theatres.”
The Quarterly Ethernet Switch report also indicates that the top four campus switch vendors after Cisco in North America were HPE Aruba, Extreme, Ubiquiti, and Juniper.  The top three data center switch branded vendors after Cisco in North America were Arista, Juniper, and Dell.  The report highlights how business size, vertical exposure, and hyperscaler adoption drove vendor performance in 1Q’21.  Future reports will include Network-as-a-Service and 1.6 Tbps.
About the Ethernet Switch Quarterly Report

Industrial Ethernet Switching Forecasted to Outpace Data Center Switching & Campus Switching Markets Over Next 5 Years

1/26/2021

650 Group Reports that Managed Hardened and Industrial Switching to Triple and Make Up Increasing Portion of Campus Switching Offerings by 2025

INCLINE VILLAGE, NEVADA, Jan. 26, 2021 -- According to a new report published by 650 Group, titled Industrial Switching Forecast 2020-2025, the worldwide Managed Industrial Switching market will nearly triple revenues to approach $2 Billion in revenue by 2025. The Industrial Switching market is experiencing a significant shift driven by building automation and IoT. Ports connected to IoT devices and gateways will grow significantly more compared to user ports during the forecast period.

While the campus and branch market vendors have focused on security and WAN connectivity for the past few years by enhancing SD-WAN and SASE portfolios at the edge, device connectivity for IoT is changing rapidly. Hardened, stand-alone and rack industrial Ethernet switches continue to gain in popularity to address these new use cases.

Products in the Stand-alone and rack-mounted hardened/industrial switch category will make up a growing portion of the campus switch market with offerings coming from more traditional Ethernet Switch vendors instead of industrial focused companies. Vendors will take different approaches to these emerging use cases depending on company exposure, with each vertical in our studies having slightly different requirements and market opportunities. Smart Cities, Manufacturing, and Logistics will adopt these new products in volumes. Still, even verticals like Education, Hospitality, and Carpeted Enterprises will embrace industrial switches as the campus automates buildings and increases in size to address energy requirements and COVID-19 distancing requirements.

"Industrial Switching has been part of the Ethernet Switch market since the beginning, but with the advent of IoT, Smart Cities, and building automation, Industrial Switching is outperforming the overall market," said Alan Weckel, Technology Analyst at 650 Group. "Different form factors are emerging beyond purpose-built industrial switches, and we expect many vendors to introduce products or enhance existing portfolios this year to address this growing market."

To purchase the report, we offer this report for $995 to a single user at a single company and $1,995 to a group of five users at a single company and have additional options for redistribution and external use of the data. Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6E Enterprise Wireless LAN Market Forecast Exceeds $4B in the Next Five Years ACCORDING TO 650 GROUP

6/1/2020

New Enterprise WLAN Forecast Consistent with Previous Projections for 2020

PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif.  June 1, 2020 —  According to a newly released WLAN market report issued by 650 Group, revenues of the Enterprise Plus Outdoor Wireless LAN market declined 3%.  650 Group expects full-year 2020 revenues to decline, and following that, the market will rebound.  In the next year, Wi-Fi 6E Enterprise Plus Outdoor WLAN Access Points will begin shipping to enterprises.

“While the pandemic has negatively impacted the Enterprise WLAN market, we expect a rebound beginning in the second half of 2020. 650 Group quantitative studies of end-markets, verticals, including hospitality, retailing, and education have seen reductions in demand, while logistics and shipping have seen increases.  We are encouraged that the US FCC has rapidly moved forward with plans to allow indoor 6 GHz unlicensed wireless, which will lead to Enterprise Wi-Fi 6E shipments in the next year,” said Chris DePuy, Technology Analyst and Founder of 650 Group.

Additionally, we have made the first and market-leading Enterprise-class Wi-Fi 7 Access Point forecast, which leverages the same new spectrum, and builds upon the expected progress of Wi-Fi 6E.  We expect these new Wi-Fi Access Points will see increased demand as companies leverage the new 6 GHz, first in the US, and then in other countries over the coming years, ” continued DePuy.

Cloud-managed Wireless LAN revenues associated with Enterprises experienced significant growth in 2019 and is forecast to continue its growth during the forecast period ending 2024.  The recently published report’s forecast includes the impact of new cloud-managed services that address the health crisis, including proximity tracing and hot zone alerting.  The report includes market share analysis on vendors including Adtran, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Allied Telesis, Arista Networks, Cambium Networks, Cisco Systems, Commscope, DasanZhone, Engenius, Everest Networks, Extreme Networks, Fortinet, H3C, Huawei, HPE Aruba, Juniper Networks, Lancom, Samsung, Ubiquiti and others.
